At the Magistrate's Court to-day* a young man named Charles Thomas Scoringe was committed for trial on a charge of stealing money from a dwelling at Island Bay. Joseph Shaw, alias McMahon, was fined £10 for assaulting a constable white in the execution of his duty. NAPIER, last night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, James Duncan, who pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing £20 at Blenheim in May, 1906, was admitted to probation for two years on condition that he paid £1 per month towards restoration of tho amount stolen. It was stated that defendant had received the money from Thomas Henry to bank, but became intoxicated, and spent it, on a racecourse. He wa9 willing to, make restoration.
