FIRE BRIGADE.

Tho monthly meeting of the abovo was hold last evening. Superintendent McMillan presided, and there was a full attendance. ' Correspondence was received and road — From Messenger McLuckie, resigning his position as he was leaving the district. — Resignation accepted. From Town Clerk, ro payment of final instalment of subsidy to the Brigade from the Borough Council. — J.eceived. From tho secretary of the Levin Fire Brigade, intimating that his brigade was promoting a demonstration to be held on January 22nd, and asking ■whether tho Brigade would send a team. — No action taken. From Acting-Secretary U.F.8.A., forwarding copy of accident assurance rules. — Received. From same, covoring renewal of insurance of members of th© Brigade. — Decided that it be optional for the members to insure themselves. GENERAL. A ballot to fill one vacancy was taken between two local gentlemen, and Mr J. McKearney was elected a .member, subject to the approval of tho Fire Board. The selection committee reported that they had chosen the following team to represent the Brigade at the demonstration to be held in Auckland in March next : Superintendent McMillan, Foremen B. Nuttall and F. Brown, Branehinan E. Kellv, Fire-, men H. Drinkwater and S. Eaton. The Superintendent reported that the Fire Board required three members of the Brigade to meet the local members of the Board to discuss rules for tho internal working of the Brigade. — Throe senior officers "ap- . pointed to the deputation. A discussion took place on the question of raising means to defray the expenses of the team to Auckland. It was decided to apply to the Fire Board for a donation towards the above object, and the .-team as selected- were appointed a committee to canvass the town for support; The Superintendent ordered that a practice should be held on Tuosdav next, Bth inst.
