BURGLARY.
[PEESS ASSOCIATION.] . ■ ' NAPIER, last night. . A burglar, who entered the residence of R.- Williams last night, received a warm reception. Mr Williams was away on a holiday, but his wife and the servants were sleeping in the house. In his quest for booty the burglar disturbed Mrs Williams, who on going te tho top of the stairs, saw a, light below. She returned to the bedroom to procure a revolver, and the noise apparently alarmed tho intruder, who sought to make good his escape. Mrs Williams fired at the retreating form, but missed the first shot. . A second attempt, however, is believed to have hit him m the shoulder, as ho dropped a big package con- , taining jewellery, silver ware,- and j the keys of Williams and Sons warehouse/ The police were immediately notified, but no trace could bo found of the* burglar.
