Sir, — Of all the inconsistent speeches I havo listened to, the one from Mr Geo. Hunter on Saturday night capped everything. He raises a cry against the Government for not supplying the settlers with loans immediately on application, but Mr Hunter, as usual, could do nothing else butcomplain. Had ho ability to look at m the Advances to Settlers' Office statement, ho. would have seen that this office had 'leirt to the settlers during the last eight -weeks £600,000 at 4£ per cent., and are still giving the money at tho same rate every day. But why is :'Mr\ Hunter so very desirous that the .settlers should get money .when ho has pledged himself to stop borrowing? Does Mr Hunter know what he wants?
