{ Mr J. C. Lane, the^ secretary. of the ! Manawatu A. and P. Association, ar- ■ rived at Dannevirke last night, and left for Hastiugs this morning.. The telegraph construction gang, who are engaged near Takapau, are extending two wires between Dannevirke and Napier, as well as overhauling the existing line. One of the new wires will be utilised for the direct telephonic communication with Napier for which the Chamber of Commerce has successfully agitated.
