MISSING VESSELS.

It is just a month ago that the 'sioei four-master barque Dundonald (Tliorlumi, master) was posted at lilovd's "for inquiry," remarks a writer in tho London Shipping Gazotte on October 4. On Wednesday, October 2, she was finally posted as "missing." The mere fact that the ship was not previously declared "missing" did not, of course, inspire hop© for her safety. For weeks past she has been looked upon as lost, and Wednesday's posting was merely an official recognition that, from some cause or .other, the ill— starred Dundonald is the twentyseventh: vessel to be posted as "missing" since the opening of the year. She is also tho fifth sailing ship of over 2000 net tons to be unaccountably lost at sea since January 1 last, tlie four previous sailing ships of large tonnage to be posted "missing" being tho Theodor (Norwegian), the Daniel and Hautot (French), and the Ormsaiy (British). . ■

Hervig, she had Haugesund as her port of registry. The. Guina is the fifth Norwegian vessel to be posted "missing" since .the 'opening of the year, and tlie- twenty-eighth if all vessels are included.
