"THE GUV'NOR."
The above well-known comedy, in three acts by A. R. Lankesteer, will be produced at the Drill Hall to-mor-row night by the . Wellington Dramatic Club, who will appear for the first time in Dannevirke. "The Guv-, nor" depends for its fun on the misunderstanding of the old boat builder (Theodore Macclesfield), the jealousy-prompted jumping to conclusions of a retired confectioner (Mr Birtterscotch), and the jangled love affairs of their respective sons and daughters, who managed to get into such a beautiful misunderstood condition with their parents that it needs an entire act to straighten them out. Confusion is worse confounded by an ancient Peeping Ton* in the person of one Jellioce, who foments the trouble by his tell-tale proclivities by a bucolic groom from Yorkshire (Gregory), who is mistaken for somebody else ; and by the Caledonian eccentricities of the Mac Toddy "frae the north, ye ken." Lovers of a real good comedy should not miss to-morrow night's performance. The* booking office is now open.
