[own correspondent.] A meeting of the Ploughing Match vSocioty was held in the Town Hall on Saturday night, Mr J. A. MoLeod presiding. Several letters were read by the secretary, who also stated that the committee had received subscriptions .and trophies to the value of £30. The. society has drawn up a programme for the match, which is to be held on "Wednesday, May 13th, and they have agreed to spend £32 10s in prize money and gold medals for an open and local match. Trophies as extra prizes are promised by Messrs J .C. Hansen, W. M. Beckett, W. C. Gavin, A. Jones and Sons (Bastings), Knight,- Longburn. A field lias been kindly granted by Mr W. Hobson for the occasion, which is about half a mile from the railway station. The official programme and posters will be issued shortly. There were several other items of business settled, and it is hoped that many will join so as to place the society on a firm footing. The next meeting of the society will be held on Saturday, 25th April, 1908.
