TAKAPAU - HATUMA NOTES.

[own correspondent.] The farmers of the Hatuma (Jovernment settlement held their animal show'of produce and dance last night, in the "grainery," Hatuma, when there was about 200 present. Mr R. H. Falconer, lion. secretary, had everything well arranged, and got through his multifarious duties with satisfaction to all. In spite of the dry season, the produce was of excellent quality, and well matured. The potatoes, pumpkins, and cabbages were exceptionally good, and well worth mentioning. Mr Houseman, of Waiplikurau, was judge of the produce, and general satisfaction was given in his decision. The dancing hall was nicely decorated with native foliage, oat sheaves and flags. Mr J. Hobson acted as M.C., and carried through his duties in a most jovial manner. Mr J. "Williamson, chairman of the committee, made the speech of the evening, and extended a hearty welcome to all those present. Mr W. A. Chambers, of Waipukurau, replied on belialf of the visitors, and thanked the settlers for their welcome and kind hospitality. Miss Marone.y was at the, piano, and Mr fi. Tavkard assisted 011 tho cornet, both musicians earning unstinted praise for their excellent music.
