LAND BOARD ELECTION.

Sir. — Xow that wo are on the ovo of the first election that has yet been held to elect a representative of the Crown tenants to the Hawko's Baj" Land Board, I desire to say something i n favor of tho candidature of Mr W. F. M. Berkahn, whom I have, known for a great many years, but who may not ho so well known to the new generation of Crown tenants. Mr Berkahn began at the very bottom (if ihe ladder, and ho has fought hi* v. «iy up to near the top in a most meritorious manner. Ho was a Crown tenant in a very small way in the seviMities. and no ono kno^s better rluui he. ihe difficulties that they have, to taee. nor the best methods of overcoming them. Ho has a thorough knowledge of tho district, and its requirements, and is by nature, a fair and just man, anil one that may be relied upon to carefuHy consider, ;iml c:;iiscrv<', l.lie true intoret.t.-s of all the tenants in Hawkers Bay.
