: MF'-LBOr-BNE, July 26. The Postmaster-General admitted in the House that the telephone service was .notoriously bad throughout : Australia. The Department had neither wire nor machines. This was tlie result of the enormous demands for telephones. The time was not far distant when every house would be able to have a telephone at Is per week.
