N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows : — At Palmerston on Thursday we had i a small entry of sheep and cattle. There was a fair attendance of buyers and most lines were quitted. Quotations : Sheep— Cull ewes in lamb 12s, small 2-tooth ewes in lamb 15s 7d, hoggets 13s 3d, Southdown ewes in lamb los 6d, stud Romney ewes in lamb 2 guineas. CattleYearling heifers 19s, store cows 31s to £2, backward cows in calf £2 10s to £2 17s 6d, cows in milk £2 7s 6d, sound dairy cows £3 17s 6d to £4 os, forward cows £2 18s. Messrs Mitchell and Griffith held their quarterly horse sale at Pahiatua on July 25th, at the mart yards, and report good business despite the fact that the season was against a good clearing sale. A' good number was in attendance, and the bidding at times was spirited, especially in regard to draught colts and hacks, the prices realised being equal in some cases to spring kinds. Prices realised were as follows : Draught gelding £22 10s, trap £15 15s to £24, light trap mare in foal* £9 15s, pair buggy ponies £20, thoroughbred filly £20, boy's pony £6. The next quarterly sale is to be held at the end of September. I
