Compulsory subjects: Headi'i;.: — Standard 6, good; standard o, fair to very fair; other classes impr:j -in-j.. Composition — Several fair, more oral \vc:l. wanted in standards 1 and 2. Standard 6, i'airly good. •Yriti'ig — much in proved and standards G : .";, -I. :\iid Ji good average quality; this y:;i;---jotl s!ioavs marked and satisfactory improvement since the disuse of slates in the senior department; both neatness and method have improved by the change; standard 2, fair; standard 1. poor. Spelling — Good to fair. Recitation — Standards 6 and o. "John Gilpin," good; standards 2 and 1, I'aii-; phrasing imperfect. Arithmetic — Fair progress for the year and of good promise: style much improved. Drawing — Good. Singing — fair voices, and Avould do well with increased time. Physical instruction — Improved but open to precision, breathing exercises should' be fostered. Geography— Satisfactory. History — Satisfactory. Additional Subjects: Nature study and elementary science — Commencing. rTamhyork — Brushwork done in standards 6. 5. 4. and 3. Needlework — -Good avvrago results. Efficiency of the school, etc. : The school shows considerable improvement since my inspection visit. Energy and method have boon thrown into the work and the results are satisfactory and generally of good promise. Standard 6 pupils especially the girls, do commendable paper work.
