Hawke's Bay Dairy Co., Ltd., is at present paying 10£ d per lb for butter fat, and the 9d allnded to as for the coming season is a guaranteed advance only, the settlers having been informed that the Hawke's Bay Dairy Co., Ltd., has not sold its butter, and therefore cannot advance so much as the companies who sell in the colony. What the suppliers of tiie Hawke's Bay Dairy Co., Ltd., will receive will be determined on the result of the Euglish market for the coming season, which is the market value. The Hawke's Bay Dairy Co., Ltd., is as purely co-operative as the Koupokonui or any other dairy company, except that suppliers have no share risks, Let me here say that Koupokonui is a cheese factory, or rather a combined plant, but clieese making has been in vojme the past season, and will again be so this season. They have received an advance on tht- ir cheese, which no doubt will enable them to pay a good prioe for butter fat, but whether lld per lb will be paid as an advance for the season, is certainly not to be inferred from the paragraph in the Waimate Witness. I would not trouble to reply to these matters, but your correspondent should at any rate not make inferences which he should know are not facts, and if he does not know then he should not be so anxious to air his opinions m the press, and if he is especially anxious should be careful to state the truth.
