I The new class-room addition to the South. School is now in course of erection. Mr A. P. Bennett, who was recently married at Sumner, returned with, his bnds to Dannevirke on Saturday last. A man named Charles Falk had one of his legs broken by a trap accident on the Napier Road yesterday. Assistance was rendered by a picnic party, and later on Dr Mackay provided surgical aid. To-day the injured man was sent to the Waipukurau Hospital. To-day's cable from the AgentGnneral states that the butter market is very firm, the supply being short ot the demand. Choicest New Zealand is quoted at 107s, Danish Ills ; cheese market is firm and advancing; the mutton market is unchanged, lamb quiet, and a better demand for beef. At the adjourned inquest at Wellington into the death of the woman Hughes, one of the victims of the Newtown tragedy, the evidence failed to disclose the cause of death — there was no trace of j poison — and the jury returned a verdict accordingly. The annual meeting of the contributers to the Dannevirke Hospital will be held at the Drill Hall on Friday evening next at 8 p.m.
