He ha* to educate his palate, lais sense of smelling as well as his optics, to distinguish the different sorts of tea. The blending is a great art, and. while there are many tea-blenders, the successful ont s are few. It is necessary to blend tea because it is itupoßablie to get tbe same quality from several gardens. Tea is subject to climatic conditions, soil, treatment, etc. One lot may be stroug, another may bave a fine fragrance, but be lacking in other essentials. The tea-blender brings together just tbe teas that he requires to make up a standard quality, and if he is an expert the blend will uever vary iv quality.
