He says he was picked up by a Russian torpedo boat, and transferred from her successively to the Peresviet and the Bayan, both of which were badly damaged and filthily dirty. Captain Vhen, of the Bayan, asked 1 news of the Baltic Fleet, and, on learning it had not yet sailed, expressed despair, while the other officers openly ' declared themselves lost.
