The King Enquiry.

PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.

Auckland. March 23,

The Electoral Commission continued its inquiry into the charges against the Begistrar of Electors (Mr King) to»day, when two further witnesses gave evidence as to failing to get on the city roll after making application at the time that the roll was being compiled. Lists of names alleged to have been wrongfully expunged from the Grey Lynn and City rolls weie gone through. Mr King produced the paper in the majority of cases, and in many instances it was shown that the names had been expuoged owing to electors having been transferred on their own application to other districts, whilst in otber cases the reason given was that of duplication. A list of names on whose bebajf the temperance party had put in claims fdr the City was also partially examined. Mr King stated the cause of rejeotion in most instances was that the persons were already on the roll they desired to be put on, or on another roll.

This day At the Kiug enquiry farther evidence was tukeu re the enrolment of names.

Mr Heed, solicitor, urged tbat the Registrar should oorrect technical errors IB applications. King retorted that Reid's friends kept enrolment claims back and rushed them jn on the last day, embarassing the Registrar.
