Land Settlement.
+ (PXR I BESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, March 21. Lt the Farmers' Union meeting today the reports of Mr A. H. Wallis' on the Waipau lands showed that there were 218,283 acres of native lands unoccupied in the Waiapu country, also 3700 odd acres of Crown lands. Mr Wallis Baid there were no natives living on these lands, for which they paid no rates. The area mentioned was absolu<&£ waste, A diecussioa lamenting this condition of things ensued, and tb , was urged that the land should bo^j turned to account.
