The total yardine. which it is estimated closely approached 40,000, was considerably more than the highest number previously reached at Addmgton. There was a large attendance of buyers, and notwithstanding the great entry the prices realised were good. Fat sheep — The entry comprised a large proportion of ewes and wethers m j?ood condition, and for these there was keen demand throughout the Bale, huyera for export operating freely. Existing rates were maintained, and comparatively few lota w^re passed. Inferior lots were bard to quit. Freezing wethers 15s 7d to lgs 9d ; wethers and maiden ewes, 15s 6d to 16 6d ; freezing ewes, lls to 14s 6d; best butchers' ewes 14s to 163 lOd, extra »ie<ivy 17s lOd to 18s 7d, others 9s to 13s, Fat lambs — The entry, which was a large one, comprised a good proportion of first-class quality, which met with spirited competition. Last week's rates were folly maintained. Prime frees<jrs realised from 13* to 15s P^j tees, 10s to 17s 10; butchers' lots, lls to 15s. Store sheep, — 24,298 were yarded, includiug a large number from the north of this island, and also a fair proportion from the Chatham Islands. The bulk of the yarding comprised ewes of mixed quality, wethers and lambs being aho plentiful. Despite the abnormal yarding existing prices were fnlly tnaiutained, and although a large number of medium and poor quality lots were passed all first-class sbeep mat a keen demand, excepting towarfls the close of the sale, when business dragged materially.
