Per Press Association. Wellington, March 20 Some eight persons who had their names placed on the Newtown electoral roll before they were qualified to vote were fined 10s and costs by the Stipendiary Magistrate this morning. In most cases' the defendants erred m ignorance. The cases were the sequel to the Newtown local option petition. Wellington, March 20. The Admiral of the Australian Station has communicated to the University of New Zealand an offer of a commission m the Navy's medical service to New Zealand. Applicants must be qualified medical practitiouers between the age of 22 and 25, and the successful .applicant must be prepared to proceed Home at once.
