Wellington, Oot. 2. If the New Zealand contingent is to go to the Transvaal a training camp will be formed at Miramar, arrangements for which the Defence Department no* has in hand. The Defence Department has decided to take over, for the use of the New Zealand contingent, the saddlery which the Heretaunga Mounted Rifles has ordered from London, and which will arrive by the "Waimate, due in a few days. The corps has also placed its new overcoats at the disposal of the dapartment. Both saddlery and overcoats will be kept in store in case the . contingent ia sent to South Africa. Blenheim, Thiß day. Eighteen members of the Marlborough Mounted Rifles have volunI teered for service in South Africa, and Baveral horses have been presented by r Blenheim residents.
