The Court of Appeal this morning fixed £2000 as tho sum for which security should bo givon in the appeal to tho Privy Council in the case of Robertson v. Howden and others. The police had nine suspicious characters, including three women, before the Magistrate's Court this morning under the Vagrant Act, sentences of from one to three months being imposed, and tho Bench of Justices, in appreciating the action of tho police, regretted that longer sentences could not bo given. First offenders received shorter sentences. At the inquest on Frederick Wilson, killed on tho railway, n , verdict of temporary insanity was returned. "Wilson is believed to 1 be an assumed name, as deceased often declared his fnther was a Canon of St. Paul's, London.
