MAHARAHARA ROAD BOARD.

_ « . The Road Board met in the Heretaunga School on Saturday night. Present — Messrs Danielson (chair), Clausen, McConville, Wall, and Goldfinch. Correspondence was received from F. W. Witherow, Danevirke, stating his intention of felling the bush upon his section, and inquiring whether the Board were prepared to do likewise on the road adjoining, in which case he was prepared to undertake the work at £2 per acre. — Reply to be sent asking what length of road required clearing, and stating that the Board were willing to expend thereupon the thirds accruing. From tbe Land Department, requesting the Board to submit proposals for expenditure of rates (4^57 13s) before the 20th July, and drawing attention to the provisions of the Land Act. — To b-^ forwarded. From C. Neilsen, forwarding account for £l ls for filling in ruts on Sturdy's road.— Passed. From T. Ebbett, offering to make a drain alongside section 24 at 5s Od per chain.— -Deferred. Mr Lynn asked the Board to put in a culvert on the road near his property to divert the surplus water. —Uo stand over. Mr Dittmer applied to have a hole on the side of the road opposite his front gate filled up and a drain made, and sffered to give the cost of one day's labor. — Mr McConville deputed to sco the work done, cost not to exceed 14s. Thirds amounting to £57 6s were allocated. It was decided to join with the School Committee in the purchase of a 300 caudle power lamp for use in the schoolroom. In pursuance of notice of motion at last meeting it was proposed and

carried that a rate of |-d in the £ be struck. Accounts totalling £57 6s were passed for payment. Messrs Murray and Beagley's account for metalling was ordered to stand over till next meeting, contract not being completed.—Examiner.
