I i .», ■ ■■ . The supper and danco given by Mrs Barry in the Makotuku Hall on Saturday evening last was a r decided success. The Hall was. very .prettily decorated with evergreens and "the whole effect was considerably brightened up by two large bungahs. The supper which' was under the able management of Mesdames Brookes and Gasson, was laid on a table extending the full length of the stage and the two ladies evidently proved themselves masters, or rather mistresses, of the culinary art, enhanced as it was by their decorative ability. The music was supplied by Mr Trask, Mr Mitchell officiating as M.C. A number of visitors come from Takapau and Kopua, and by 9 o'clock the Hall was comfortably filled, about 40 couples being present. After supper dancing was kept up vigorously, and at intervals songs were rendered, which helped to pass more pleasantly, if possible, the time. Before the gathering broke up Mr James Powrie led the hostess to the front of the stage and briefly thanked her on behalf- of the guests present, for tbe evening's entertainment, and concluded by wishing her health and prosperity in her new home. Mr Leslie appropriately responded for Mrs Barry. Dancing was kept up till the clock was on the stroke of twelve, when at a signal from the M.C. " God save the Queen" was played, and the guests dispersed, all concurring in the verdict that a very jolly evening had, keen spent, ..:
