"We notice that the Chairman of the Danevirke Town Board has, in response to a requisition, called a public meeting in the* Town Hall on Monday .evening for the purpose of enabling the candidates for election on the Board to explain their views. We are very glad to see that step taken, because the ratepayers have . a right to hear the opinions, of those who seek to represent them in the management of the affairs of the town. There may be questions of past and future management that require explanation, and the proper place to have that explanation is when the people are called together in a public way. It is almost tho only opportunity a ratepayer has of expressing his satisfaction or otherwise with those who have hitherto conducted the business of the town, or of making known his wants and eliciting the view's of those who seek his confidence. Wo liope to see a large attendance at tho Hall on Monday and a healthy public spirit displayed in connection with the proceedings.
