Last night the Maori Minstrel Troupe gave their first performance in Butcher s to % fair audience,
Several songs,, some in the Native language, were sung; Bones and Tambo cracked the usual jokes; Hornpipe, jig, sword, and a country dance, were danced very well, more especially the sword, and country dance. The entertainment concluded with a farce, entitled the "MischiiTOUS monkey." Altogether, our Native friends made a very creditable first appearance, and were loudly applauded. ' Our townsman, Mr W. Ellingham, is leaving next week, to take charge of the Waverley Hotel, and, though we are sorry to lose him, one and all wish him and Mrs Ellingham " good luck" in his oew undertaking. Mr E. May had taksn over the bus 5 ness of blacksmith, and starts work at once, Mr Wood, our station master, is away taking a holiday, and Mr Hislop is acting in his stead.
