LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Monday, Dec. 8. In the Council to-day, after the routine business, Colonel Whitmore gave notice to move that the Agent-General ought to be appointed for a limited term, fixable by Parliament.
Mr. Whitaker’s General Harbor Act Amendment Bill was read a first time.
The Native Affairs Committee reported on apetition re the Kinross case, that the Council ought to allow its officers to appear as witnesses in any future trial, or

There was upon this a discussion lasting. over an 'hour, in which twelve members took part, after which the debate was adjourned on a division, by 22 votes to 10. <’ ; .
