Roumania hesitates to occupy the Dobrudscha, apprehending resistance from the inhabitants. Some strongly worded despatches have been sent to St. Petersburg by the British Government regarding the action of the Russian Government towards Afghanistan. A conspiracy of a serious nature has been discovered at Seville, Spain, the object being the overthrow of the Monarchy. Russia has advised Servia not to disarm, and continues the payment of the subsidy. London, Sept. 11. Jannette won the St. Leger easily. The Turco-Grecian difficulty is intensified by the refusal of Turkey to listen to the Greek proposals. Greece asks the immediate intervention of the Powers. September 13. A disastrous fire at Blackburn has destroyed property valued at half a million sterling. The return match Australians v. Players resulted in a draw; first innings of the Australians 236; first innings Players 170.
