MATCH AVITH OTAGO P.A. WELLINGTON, this day. The Plunket Shield match, Wellington v. Otago, opened in perfect weather today. In the Wellington team R. Buchan replaced D. Beard, who is suffering from burns received when assisting at a fire. H. F. Rice took over the captaincy from F.~ H. L. Mooney. Wellington batted first, the opening pair, Ell and Wiren, scoring slowly for the first hour. Roberts was bowling deceptively and kept the batsmen cautious. His first five overs were maidens. Ell had scored 12 when he was stumped. Wellington's total was then 17, of which Wiren had scored four off one stroke. Duffy and Wiren maintained their defence against changes in bowling.
