NO PERMITS NOW NEEDED

Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, this day. An announcement that the existi ing permit system for the purchase of shotgun cartridges and .22 calibre ammunition has been discontinued and in future all users may obtain their requirements from local retailers without the necessity of obtaining a permit from an inspector of stock, was made by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Roberts, yesterday. "During the war years supplies of shotgun cartridges and .22 ammunition for civilian use were severely limited," said Mr. Roberts, "and in order to ensure that these supplies were utilised for the destruction of pests which were directly affecting our primary production, arrangements were made for the introduction of a system of control. Under it rabbit boards and farmers were required to apply to the nearest inspector of stock of my Department for a permit to enable ammunition to be obtained."
