SUCCESSFUL SEASON

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES

"The League code depends for its existence on good management," said the president of the Xew Zealand Rugby League, Mr. J. A. Redwood, at a social gathering held last evening to mark the end of the season. Auckland, he said, was fortunate in having old players and officials continuing to assist the game. If all leagues were like Auckland, he added, the work of the New Zealand League would be very happy.

The chairman of the Junior Control Board, Mr, I. Stonex. said that in the past season they had 55 teams in the competition.

The chairman of the \ Senior Officers' Association, Mr. F. McAneny, said that during the season £4GI was paid to injured players. They had started with nothing, and now had £1000 in hand. During the evening the Dickson gold medals for most sportsmanlike players of the season were presented to J. Fogarty, of the Otahuhu senior team, and V. Frerlatovich. of the City third grade team. A silver cup was presented to B. Nordgren, of the Ponsonby senior team, for scoring most senior points of the season. Presentation of a cheque for £104 was made by Mr. E. J. Phelan to Mr. A. Asher, who is returning to his home town of Tauranga; and presentation of the Painter trophy, for most successful goal-kicker of the season, ivas made to C. Riley, of the Otahuhu senior team.
