PRISONERS OF JAPANESE P.A. WELLINGTON, Monday. The following civilians, previously interned by the Japanese, are now reported to be safe:—J. S. Beach, Dunedin; H. D. Didsbury, Papatoetoe; T. J. Gould, Auckland; A. L. M. Greig, Otahuhu; A. B. GrifTen, Blenheim; B. Harper, Auckland; H. F. Harper, Auckland; A. J. Hodgkinson, Invercargill; R. B. Horner, Patea; H.'K: H. Long, Oamaru; K. R. Macaskill, Havelock North. The following prisoners of war and civilian internees were evacuated by air from Singapore and Borneo on October S:—R.N.Z.A.F.: Fly-ing-Officer R. D. Millar, Wellington; Warrant-Officer C. G. Thompson, Christchurch; Flight-Lieutenant J. H. Lynch (R.A.F.) and Mrs. Lynch, Auckland. Army: Lieutenant J. B. Harris, London. Civilians: Mrs. M. de Malmanche, Auckland; S. E. Esam, Hastings; H. G. Gordon, Port Chalmers; N. M. Levien, Auckland; G. G. L. McLeod, Auckland: E. D. Morgan, Auckland; Miss B. E. Sherman, Lower Hutt; W. H. and Mrs. Lampen-Smith, Wellington; G. E. Thompson, Queenstown; G. E. Turner, Auckland.
