CZECH ELECTIONS
COMMUNISTS LEAD Dr. Benes' Party In Second Place N.Z. Press Association—Copyright Rec. 10.30 a.m. PRAGUE, Oct. 5. The Communist party secured a slight lead over the other parties in the first stage of the Czech elections, which have just been completed. Local meetings at this stage chose 3506 representatives by acclamation, who are forming regional councils
to elect 300 members of the National Assembly, which is due to meet on October 28. The acclamation method was decided on because it was believed that a secret ballot was impossible, as the electoral rolls were incomplete. The Communists so far have secured 841 representatives, compared with Dr. Eduard Benes' National Socialists 813, the Social Democrats 811, the Catholic People's party 795 and others 246.
