RESERVE BANK'S RETURN A fall In the sterling funds held by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand is shown in the lateat return. The total is £70,629,100. or £176,151 lew than the preceding week's record. The return tor the week ended Monday, October 1, with variations in the figures compared with those in the previous week's statement, is as follows:— Liabilities. —General reserve. £1,500.000 (same): bank notes, £41.204,881 (+£190,292); demr.nd liabilities. State £9,053.368 (+£191,944), banks £52.523.661 (—£948,545), other £744.318 (+£26,919): other currencies, £10.179 ( + £4572); other liabilities.. £2,476.732 (+£8888); totals, £107,513,227 (—£525,930). Assets.—Reserve, gold £2,801,877 (same), sterling exchange £70,629.100 (—£175,151); subsidiary coin, £21,820 (—£9327); advances, marketing £2,118 765 (—£245,846), other £20,000,000 (same); investment, £10,997,26* (—£29): other assets. £944.301 (—£95,577); totals, £107,513,227 (—£525,930).
