STATUS OF SPECIALIST
NEED FOR N.Z. STANDARDS Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, this day. In New Zealand there was nothing to prevent a doctor from setting himself up as a specialist, said the Minister of Health. Mr. Nordmeyer, in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon in reply to Mr. Anderton (Govt., Eden).
In several countries, added the Minister, certain restrictions applied and he thought it was desirable that certain standards for qualification should be established in New Zealand before a doctor could call himself a specialist. He proposed to discuss the matter with representatives of the profession.
