Replying to "Pin Pricking" regarding the opening of envelopes containing returns, maybe your correspondent is aware that a gross slur has been made on all sub-enumerators by the apparent mistakes of one of them. The job is hard enough.without that., goodness knows. Would it not have been fairer to report this particular case to the Census DepartlAlient1 A l i ent * n^eac l °f rushing into print.? ?R', the sub-enumerators are entitled to open and peruse them if no name is written on the envelopes. } hlf L Wl 'l be seen in the Directions for Personal Schedule on the reverse side.
