OBITUARY
MR. S. J. BISHOP The death has occurred of Mr. S. J. Bishop, of 77, Tautari Street, Orakei, former headmaster of the Orakei School. The late Mr. Bishop, who was educated at the Remuera School and Prince Albert College, began his teaching career at Waihi, and later became headmaster at Mercury Bay. Subsequently he was headmaster of the Otaki and Papakura Schools. He was the first headmaster of the Orakei School, and held that position for nearly six years. After his retirement last year Mr. Bishop held the position of agricultural instructor at King's College till a few days ago when he left because of ill-health. . Mr. Bishop Is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
MRS. E. M. WADDELL
The death has occurred of Mrs. Emily Millicent Waddell, of 15, Orakau Avenue, Epsom, at the age of 87 years. Mrs. Waddell. who was born in Manchester in 1858, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wills. In 1874 the family decided to come to New Zealand and had their passage booked in the Cospatrick. Mrs. Wills,- however, objected to sailing in the vessel and a change was made to the Assaye. The Cospatrick was burnt hear the Cape of Good Hope. Mr. and Mrs. Wills settled in Onehunga, and in 1879 Mrs. Waddell married Mr. Thomas Waddell, of the Union Steam Ship Co. They lived in, Otahuhu and Auckland Mr. Waddell died in 1900. Mrs. Waddell is survived by two sons and a daughter.
