MANNERS IN TRAMS
I have noted talk about the manners of young people in trams, and I should, be grateful if you would publish'this in defence of us young 'uns. When I was travelling home from town, a lady somewhere around the age of 26 boarded the tram and had to stand. There were four "halves" seated around me, so naturally I expected one of them to stand. However; after I had been seated for a couple of minutes I noticed the lady was still standing, so I offered her my seat. She sat down without a word of thanks, but remarked instead, "I don't know how you managed to give it up." Perhaps this "gratitude" has been expressed to quite a number of youngsters, and it definitely does not encourage us to give up our. seats. If our elders show the way we youngsters will follow. A YOUNGSTER.
