DEMAND FOR BANK SHARES In a rush of business on the Auckland Stock Exchange to-day there was a much brighter tone. The banking section led the way with eleven sales at the two morning calls. Bank of New Zealand's being easily the most popular. On a wave of strong buying support the market for these shares began at £2 10/ and rose to £2 10/2. at which holders were prepared to continue operations, while best offers were only a penny beneath. National Banks were steady. Broken Hill Props, came into the picture with several transactions, and a large parcel of 1900-o8 Government stock .was traded at a rise of half a crown. The balance of the sales list was distributed over a number of company issues.
