MURDER ATTEMPT DENIED
WOMAN SHOT IN THIGH P.A. DUNEDIN, Monday. A seaman and labourer, Percy James Cuff (38), faced a charge in the Police Court to-day of attempting to murder his wife, Irene Margaret Cuff, by shooting. Irene Margaret Cuff, aged 32, said she was living apart from accused by mutual agreement. There were four children of the marriage. On several occasions accused had asked her to return to him, but she had always refused.
Witness detailed incidents on .the night of July 2, wlv.?n accused visited her house ana when, as a result •. f the discharge of a rifl/ 1 , siie was taken to hospital wich a bullet wound in the thigh. She was discharged four days later.
After other evidence had been heard the accused, who pl.aded not guilty, was committed for trial.
