BIG THREE TALKS
MAY LAST EIGHT DAYS
Meetings To Begin On Monday Or Tuesday Rec. noon. NEW YORK, July 12. It is learned that the Big Three meetings will begin on Monday or Tuesday, says the Associated Press correspondent aboard the heavy cruiser Augusta, en route to Europe. The indications are that the conference will be prolonged, possibly exceeding Yalta's eight days. Because of the uncertainty of the duration, President Truman has not finally committed himself to any other visits. It is even reported that his visit to London is classed as tentative.
A Brussels message says that Mr. Truman, when he arrives in Europe, will, at his special request, have a guard of honour from the Thirtyfifth United States Division, with which he served as an artillery officer in the last war. A guard was moved to Belgium from Rheims, where the rest of the division is preparing to go home.
The Basques of St. Jean de Luz to-day are holding a fete in honour of Mr. Churchill, says Reuters correspondent. Pelota. the Basque national game, will be played. The Spanish champion is taking part. Mr. Churchill looks brown and much fitter as the result of his holiday. Yesterday he visited the Nivelle River and spent some time sketching a beautiful old house.
President Truman's personal representative, Mr. Joseph Davies, who is back in London, saw the actingPrime Minister, Mr. Eden, yesterday. • Mr.. Eden also had talks with the French Ambassador in London.
