A subsidy of £500 will be paid in return for services, calculated to occupy six mornings per week, and to be devoted to training of Samoan youths in dentistry for local qualification as Samoan Dental Officers; schools dental service, covering examinations, extractions, filling and scaling for pupils; dental treatment of all in-patients at Apia Hospital, excepting the making of plates and special work; occasional visits to outlying districts and islands. u AH materials and equipment for the above services are supplied by the Administration. Appointment carries with it a right of private practice. This should operate principally among the non-Samoan population, numbering some 3500 residents, but is used to a limited extent by Samoans also. Equipment and materials for these services are to be provided by the appointee (the present dentist has equipment and stock for sale at valuation). Living quarters provided, with heavy furniture, and also rooms in Apia for conduct of private practice are available for a limited time at a com bin .d total rental of £78 per annum. A Professional Dentist's License Fee of £7 10/ pa. is payable. New Zealand taxes on income are not payable. There is a relatively light local tax on salary and fees (6d per £1, Increased by .005 d for every £1, i.e., 1/ per £1* on £1200 p.a.), and no social or national security taxes. Free passage is provided to and from Apia, including freight on effects, and three months' holiday at the salary rate of pay after three years' service. CLOSING JULY 27.
