TO OUR READERS
Here tare some of the chief rules of the Young Folks' Budget, for the benefit of ,would-be contributors and new and old Sunbeams. All boys and girls under 18 years of age, whether members or not, may enter for competitions and send in items for publication. Short stories, poems, drawings, jokes, riddles, puzzles, interesting news paragraphs and various kinds of handicraft hints, are welcomed. Points certificates and, in certain cases, money prizes, are awarded lor published work. .
Exceptionally good original work merits four points, and three points are awarded for other good original contributions. Twopoint and one-point certificates are sent out for small items or those of not such a high standard and for copied work. Copied poems are not accepted unless they are unusually humorous or interesting. ; All items must be marked "original or "copied." When 25 points are gained, the certificates should be sent in to this office, and a half-crown postal note will be sent out as a prize. Three points arc allowed for a birthday in the year in which you havs gained your 25 points, but no certificate
