OBJECTION TO WAR
MILK ROUNDSMAN'S CASE
The statement that he based his objection to war on religious grounds and on the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, was made by Albert Price Davies, milk roundsman formerly of Ponsonby, when he appeared before the No. 1 Revision Authority, Mr. A. H. Johnstone, K.C.
Applicant, who stated that he was still a practising Catholic, said that when he appealed against military service a statement was read to him. "It did not state that I could not be a Catholic and a conscientious objector," he said, "but my appeal was dismissed almost immediately." In support of his application, Davies quoted the remarks of Popes and Catholic writers. Davies said that he.had been prepared to do any work in a civilian capacity in the Dominion or overseas, with or without pay.
