METHODISTS' CONCERN
Drunkenness and disorderly conduct in evidence on VE day was commented upon.at a meeting of the Auckland East Methodist Circuit, when it was decided to urge the Government and local authorities to take steps to have hotels closed on the occasion of future peace celebrations. It was resolved to send copies of the resolution to the Prime Minister and member of Parliament. The Mission Bay congregation reported that it hoped to raise £500 this year towards a new parsonage. The Women's Missionary Union reported that there were 273 members in the circuit and that the income for the past year totalled £414.
