OLD OFFENDER SENTENCED
Ah old offender, Alfred Norman O'Meara (49),' a labourer, appeared before Mr. Justice Fair in the Supreme Court to-day and admitted two offences of housebreaking and theft in Mountain Road in April, and two thefts of clothing in March. Mr. S. Cleal, for the Crown, pointed out that O'Meara had regularly in trouble for similar offences for the past 20 years, and had twice been warned that, he was qualified to be declared an habitual. His Honor said the man seemed to be unable to refrain from this type of offence. Although he had more than qualified to be declared an habitual criminal, he would not be so declared, but he would be finally warned. He would be sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for two years, to be followed by two years' reformative detention.
