LANDLORD'S COMPLAINT
In "One Who Knows" we have a rare person, a victimised landlord. It is base of me to suspect that his generosity was tinged with avarice, but why else would he object so bitterly to the fair rents? I also note that his terrible tenants wash every day, thus adding excessive cleanliness to their other sins. My husband and I have spent many weary days inspecting dirty, cramped quarters offered to us at exorbitant rents because the people wanted to "help the housing shortage." Normally I think I.am an ethical person, but I blame no one for accepting a house or fiat at a high rental, then having it fair-rented. If "One Who Knows wants anv sympathy let him furnish us with the value of his house, the number of rooms, the price he charged and the rent the Fair Rents allow. Let him also tell us how much per week this excessive washing costs him. In the meantime I waste no sympathy. MARGARET WREN.
