TRANS-ATLANTIC SERVICE Trans-Canada Airlines will institute a fare-paying trans-Atlantic service on September 1 on a priority basis. The fares, which are not yet announced, will be in line with the rates charged by the British and American services. In - Canada, the Air Development Branch of the Reconstruction Department is undertaking, during the summer months, a Dominion-wide economic survey in anticipation of the wide public demand for feeder airlines and maintenance airports. The survey will cover every possible field of economics, including a complete review of rail, bus, and present air services, with appraisal of the economic characteristics and intercommunity pattern of some hundred points in Canada. To ■ make the survey possible, the Reconstruction Department has obtained the cooperation of various hotel associations throughout Canada.. In addition, the investigators are calling upon the major industries, chambers of commerce, boards of trade, bank, and -municipal authorities.
