WIPE'S SUIT FOR DIVORCE The defended-divorce action, Nola Isobelle White (Mr. Henry) V. Walter Leonard White, carpenter, Ellerslie (Mr. Terry), was concluded before Mr. Justice .Fair in the Supreme Court yesterday afternopn. Petitioner had given evidence of having, in company with a private -detective, surprised her husband at night alone in his house with a female cousin, in circumstances which she alleged were capable only of a sinister explanation; - ■'■• ■ <
White testified -that -he was in -the house oh the 'occasion,, arid ih~ rcorhpany with a girl- cousin, but the incriminating : circumstances alleged by his wife and the' inquiry agent. He explained that they, were waiting in a darkened house until the woman's . brother arrived. The house was darkened because they knew petitioner, had arrived:, from Hastings, and suspected she was watching-the house for a chance to break:ift" arid take some goods away.
This - evidence Was corroborated by the co-respondent, who-also denied' -any acts of intimacy.
, : Coiriirieriting that' the two witnesses for the petitioner .were in conflict on essential! points, shaking" confidence in their testimony,. .His Honor; said the high.standard of proof required to: establish, adultery'had not been reached. He'dismissed the. petition, but awarded petitioner £15 15/ costs and disbursements.
